Grilled Stromboli on the Steelmade Flat Top

Crispy, Cheesy, and Stuffed with Flavor

Take pizza night outside with this golden, melty, grilled Stromboli made right on the Steelmade Flat Top for Outdoor Grills. It’s everything you love about pizza—gooey cheese, spicy pepperoni, savory fillings—all rolled up and toasted to perfection.

This recipe is a crowd-pleaser and incredibly fun to make on your backyard setup. Let's fire it up!


🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ cup sliced pepperoni

  • ¼ cup sliced green olives (optional)

  • ½ cup marinara or pizza sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (for the flat top)

  • Cornmeal or flour (for dusting)

  • Optional fillings: sautéed peppers, mushrooms, Italian sausage, or spinach

👨🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat the Flat Top

Heat your Steelmade Outdoor Flat Top to medium heat. Add a light coating of oil or butter and let it get hot.

2. Roll & Fill

Lightly dust a cutting board with flour or cornmeal. Roll the pizza dough into a rectangle (about ¼ inch thick).
Spread a thin layer of marinara over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
Layer mozzarella, pepperoni, olives, and any other fillings you like.

3. Roll it Up

Carefully roll the dough into a tight log, like a jelly roll. Pinch the edges and ends to seal. Let it rest seam-side down for a minute or two while the grill finishes heating.

4. Grill the Stromboli

Place the Stromboli seam-side down on the hot flat top. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, rotating carefully until all sides are golden brown and crispy.

Reduce heat if needed to allow the inside to heat through without burning the outside. Cover with a grill lid or foil tent for the last 2–3 minutes to help melt the cheese.

5. Slice & Serve

Let the Stromboli rest for 2–3 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra marinara for dipping and enjoy immediately!
